It’s always interesting, when creating a new comic, to think of how one might do the backgrounds. Personally, I’m rubbish at them. But then how could I pass up the opportunity for practice a webcomic provides?

Just a quick note of interest: the background in the first panel is drawn and coloured similar to my original concepts for the characters in this comic. Back then, they were going on epic adventures rather than gag comics. Still funny, but I can salvage a lot of jokes from those 9-12 panel comics and spread them pretty effectively through these 3 panel ones. On a similar note, the background in the third panel there is what the backgrounds looked like in that original comic.

I was going for something very similar to Pocketmancer’s Guild Wars comic with those backgrounds and sharply shaded figures inserted upon. The colours really work well. Anywho, there’s the first of many comics! If you stumbled upon this page somehow before I began spreading the link around, check back in a little while for more comics.
